I am a designer, and I love it. It can be a bit of a curse. Since studying design at Uni, I haven’t been able to watch a movie, look at a magazine or even a road sign without analyzing the style, typography and imagery, and try to figure out why it has been designed that way! Since creating my first ever website in my 4th year of study, I’ve fallen deeply in love with interactive design, and the notion that I can enhance someone’s online experience.
Being a designer has had its advantages. It’s allowed me to travel to London, and work at one of the greatest marketing agencies, AKQA. The exposure to some of the worlds biggest brands and smartest creative directors, have pushed me to become a better, smarter designer, always trying my hardest to better myself at every opportunity.
So, why eskimo-creative? Well, I believe everyone has their own brand, their own identity. Being a winter baby, born in July, and having a weird likeness for the cold, I was looking for a image that would relate in some way to me. I was also after something catchy and different… so Eskimo it was!
On top of being a designer, I’m a car nut! I can rattle off specs and performance stats on pretty much any car out there. I’ve been told by many people it’s a sickness, but it’s my little obsession. I have a strong fondness to classic cars, in particular, classic American muscle. There’s nothing like the feel of a big V8, all the senses are knocked around and assaulted! My dream car is a 1966 Ford Mustang coupe. I will have one… one day. In silver, with black interior, Simmons mags, fuel injected trumpets poking thru the bonnet… it’s a dream for now, but one day!
I also don’t mind a dabble in a Texas hold ‘em poker, playing regularly with family and friends, and entering the odd tournament with the hope for a free trip to Vegas!
My other passion is soccer. I’ve played since I was 6 years old and can’t wait to get back on the field, having not played for a few years. Love it so much, I went to the 06 World Cup in Germany to watch Australia in every game they played. And got to see my dream match, Italy vs. Australia.
